Crusade - May 2006

A biblical, operatic play, held in All Saints Church, Kingston-Upon-Thames, a favourite classical venue. This production featured a local operatic society performing a classic biblical tale to the public on a low stage in the main atrium of the church.

Technical details

After consulting the producers and venue I decided to opt for a pair of Sennheiser MKH 40s, arranged in an XY crossed pair, mounted 2m in front of the stage at around 1m height, so as not to disturb audience views. Despite having the Tascam HD-P2, a last minute decision by the producer to go to Streight to camera from the SQN, simply to reduce post production costs.

I also recorded material for the organisers of Pestival including all the talks, ambient recording, Vox Pops, and interviews for the purpose of future advertising and radio broadcast.

Fresh 'n' Live

Fresh 'n' Live is a great example of an all-in technical management job, where I manage devery technical aspect of the event; PA, monitoring, recording audio in multitrack and stereo, video recording, CD production, and even website design and hosting.

PA - we use the full Renkus Heinz 4.5kW 3 way PA system which is particularly suited for this type of event where precise and detailed sound makes all the difference. Fresh'n'Live became known for it's very high-quality sound and production.

Fresh'n'Live was a monthly event which started in March 2005 and ran until April 2007

Middlesex University

Dances Then and Now - Arts Depot, London N12

We were asked to produce the soundtrack for the MA dance performance at Arts Depot. The choreographers were Lesley Main, Mavin Khoo, and Shobana Jeyasing. Two of the pieces used a single pre-recorded track. For Mavin Khoo's piece, we mixed pre-recorded classical and contemporary tracks with original, abstract synth sounds composed in the studio. All the music was then mastered onto a single show disk. I was also responsible for the sound design and running the sound for the actual production at Arts Depot.
